In 1990 the final chapter in an era of racing was closed. Willy Shoemaker climbed off his final mount and left us with fond memories of not just a great jockey, but one of the sport's true gentlemen. For forty years his name has been synonymous with thoroughbred racing. Bill made a final farewell tour before retirement, making stops at tracks around the country to say good-bye to his loyal fans. Many of them found it "Hard to Say Good-Bye."
